F.A.Q.
Are you a Venture Capitalist?
Not really. We do invest in startups, but we consider ourselves "Venture Creationists". We
like starting companies, not managing money.
How much do you invest?
We like to invest as little as possible. Not just to reduce our risk, but we truly believe the best ventures
boot-strap to profitability. The sweet spot is between 20k and 50k.
How do you work with the founders?
Each venture is different. Sometimes we start the company and recruit an entrepreneur to run the venture. Other times an entrepreneur presents his idea to us, and we sit down and figure out the best plan to move forward. We consider ourselves "co-founders" of any venture we help create.
What do you provide other than money?
The most valuable asset we have is experience and expertise in the Internet industry. We have launched multiple successful ventures in this space, and we feel we have a very deep understanding of the technology and trends that drive the web.
How do you evaluate a startup?
We look at ideas different than a "traditional" investor. We focus on the entrepreneur (his passion) and the idea (ability to scale). Those are the key components to a successful startup.
How do you work with entrepreneurs?
We prefer to work closely with the entrepreneur when launching the startup in the first few months. We can provide most of the infrastructure required and an experienced team to help take a lot of the work load. It is difficult to launch a startup with a "virtual" team, so we prefer our companies to be regional.
What if the business needs more funding after it's launched?
Our goal is to drive revenue and build a cash-flow positive business as early as possible. However, many times companies require more capital. If this is the case, we can potentially invest more money or raise an additional round through our network of angel investors. (Our firm and our network has invested over 10 Million dollars in startups over the past six years).
What companies have you helped launch?
Click on Startups above and view some of the companies we helped launch. These do not include many of the other companies we have been involved in helping start and eventually sold.
Why do I need you?
As an entrepreneur with a new idea, it is very difficult to launch a company in today's competitive climate. It requires a lot of time, money and energy. We bring some critical elements that you will need to succeed. We have proven our capability to launch successful ventures over the past ten years. Believe me, if you don't need us - we will be the first ones to tell you.
